2009 NHCOA Conference in Washington, DC
NHCOA’s 2009 Annual Conference, entitled “Working Together for a Common Aging Agenda,” was held October 6-7, 2009 at the Marriott at Metro Center in our nation’s capital. The main goal of the conference was to focus on our communities’ spirit of strength, hope, and renewal, and to ensure that aging issues remain a high priority in these complex times.
NHCOA continues to uphold its high performance and delivery standards, as was evident once again this year, with well over 900 participants over the two-day period participating in high-caliber educational sessions and discussions on timely and critical issues including Medicare fraud. Read More »
2009 NHCOA Conference –Peer to Peer SMP Outreach
National Hispanic SMP, with the support of its affiliates, provided peer-to-peer outreach during NHCOA’s 2009 Conference, Plaza del Intercambio, a unique gathering place where older adults and their families benefitted from a wide variety of invaluable information regarding health and wellbeing. At the placita our abuelitos received information (through charlas) on how to detect, prevent, and report Medicare fraud; with booths featuring health screenings, flu shots, information about prevention and control of diabetes. 2009 SMP Conference in Washington, DC
The National Hispanic Council on Aging (NHCOA) was honored to participate at the National 2009 SMP Conference, held in Washington, DC, August 18-20, to support its mission to assist, support, and inform its 54 SMPs nationwide. NHCOA, in partnership with the Administration on Aging, participated in the development and implementation of two conference workshops, “National Hispanic SMP: Strategies for Effectively Serving Hispanic Older Adults” and “Working Effectively with Interpreters.” Read More »
